Stephen Frears is currently shooting a biopic about the disgraced Tour de France winning cyclist Lance Armstrong and today the first still from the film was released. The image features Ben Foster as Armstrong biking hard around the bend of the course and that’s about it.
The film will dive into Armstrong’s battle with cancer and doping scandal but not much else has been revealed about the film’s plot, though I’m sure it’ll go through the highs and lows of his career and life. The untitled cycling film also co-stars Chris O’Dowd as a journalist David Walsh, who helped expose the doping problems in cycling, as well as Guillaume Canet and Jesse Plemons.
Frears’ film is just one of a handful of films being made about Lance Armstrong. The first is a documentary titled The Armstrong Lie which was directed by Alex Gibney and hits theaters this year and then another one is in development at Warner Bros called Red Blooded American.
