Well it seems that whatever life throws at the film Gotti: In the Shadow of my Father, the film just keeps on trucking. First it was directing issues, then casting, most recently the lawsuit filed by Joe Pesci against the film, but for every bad event, a great one happens and this time it was in the form of casting.
Variety has broken the news that joining John Travolta, who is playing John Gotti Sr., Ben Foster will play John Gotti Jr. in the film. This is both great news because Foster is a very talented actor but also a little strange at the same time. Ben Foster has done some amazing roles in the past and he has fit those roles perfectly, however, I don’t really see him as an Italian Mobsters son. Clearly they will have to color his hair, but he doesn’t look very Italian.
Pre-production is suppose to start up soon and Barry Levinson who is now directing the film is finishing up a few rewrites on the script.
Hopefully it’s nothing but smooth sailing for this film, but from it’s track record lets brace ourselves for more drama and more issues to occur before it hits theaters.
