Nani???!!!!
It’s always hilarious seeing kids dressed in suits trying to act like adults, just look at this video of a kid reporting the weather if you need proof. How do you take that idea and make it even better? You take the premise of 1970s Japanese cop/crime thrillers and replace all the leads with little kids but keeping the same aesthetic, namely the weapons, the fighting styles and, most importantly, the giant hair and facial expressions. Yes, this movie, called Kid’s Police, has little Japanese kids wielding weapons, wearing well tailored outfits and are doing everything they can to keep crime off the street…and it’s hilarious.
What makes all of this even better is that it’s not just a joke, it’s a real movie and one that I must see! It reminds me a bit of a Rugrats episode I saw waaayyy back in the early 90s as well as Takashi Miike’s Ninja kids even though it really isn’t that similar to the movie. There is even a pop song played in the second half of the trailer by a group named Sexy Zone!, can’t get much better than that.
Take a look at the trailer below and prepare to be amazed by these kids who nail these adult parts (fingers crossed this hits the festival circuit).
