Now that’s a handsome box set, is it not?
In an announcement that isn’t totally unexpected, MGM and Fox will be releasing Bond 50, a Blu-ray box set containing every official James Bond film from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the James Bond film series. Nine of the films will be in HD for the first time and the set will have 130 hours of bonus features. There is no set release date — though it’s likely to be before the next film, Skyfall, is released on October 26 (for the UK, anyway. The US gets it on November 9) — but the set has a pricetag of $300.
Or, if you’re smarter, you’ll preorder it from Amazon.com here for $199.99 and save a whopping $100 — that’s a steal for only about $9 a movie. Of course, you’re free to pretend that you’re paying more for the good Bond films and less for the cruddy ones…
