The production for the third installment in the Bridget Jones series has been delayed because David Nicholls (One Day) and Helen Fielding (Bridget Jones’ Diary) are still working on the script, according to Entertainment Weekly. However the film has a definitely title: Bridget Jones’s Baby.
The movie supposedly features everyone’s favorite British television executive, Bridget, reprised once again by Oscar winner Renee Zellweger (My One & Only), who is entering her 40s, seeking to have a baby. Also on board are Hugh Grant (Music & Lyrics) as philanderer Daniel Cleaver, as well as Bridget’s on-again-off-again beau, Mark Darcy, played by last year’s Academy Award winner, Colin Firth (The King’s Speech).
There have been loads of rumors about Grant dropping out of the project, especially after stating his disappointment in the script for the 2004 sequel of Bridget Jones’s: The Edge of Reason. Perhaps with The Full Monty director, Peter Cattaneo, there’s more hope for this third film.
Zellweger is due for a comeback, especially after the disaster that was her last film that went straight to DVD, My Own Love Song, and the 2009 mystery / thriller Case 39. There is no definite date for production to begin, but the film is currently expected for a 2013 release.
