Bruce Willis has been one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars since 1988’s Die Hard. He continued starring in action flicks since then, some profitable; some were stinkers. Taking a detour from the high velocity films, in early 2000’s he started to do cartoon voice-overs, which I, as well as the audience, felt any of the action flims he did complete were mild at best. But, ever since 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, Willis has been on a roll, appearing in The Expendables 2, Looper, and A Good Day to Die Hard which were all quite profitable for all the studios involved.
Now, in a news interview with XLS magazine (translated by the Guardian), Bruce Willis stated that, at 58 years old, he feels action movies are boring and he has no real motivation to continue doing them, except for the paycheck. Willis went on to say about movie magic explosions that “it’s one of the most boring parts of my job. When you’ve seen a few fireballs, it’s not exciting any more. I know part of my audience enjoys the explosions, but to be honest, I’m a bit bored of it now.”
Willis continued the interview, stating “I work in all sorts of films, but the action movies are the ones that generate the most revenue. I like to earn lots of money from those, but I do all types: small productions, mega-projects, medium-sized, even science fiction.”
These statements come after Sylvester Stallone had commented on Twitter that some people were “greedy and lazy”. However, checking on Bruce Willis’ current projects underway, it seems that action movies aren’t keeping him away from the screen. IMDB is showing that there are four upcoming movies that Willis is attached to and all are action films.
