While excitement builds for The Expendables 2 and The Tomb, which both feature Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, I always felt that people tend to look over that Bruce Willis, the third big action star of the 1980s (and an Expendable himself), never went anywhere, still turning in great performances that are often more varied than his counterparts.
Though Willis has such varied roles as Moonrise Kingdom, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Looper, A Good Day to Die Hard, and Red 2 coming up over the next two years, he has also signed up to star in Five Against a Bullet, written by Alex Litvak (Predators) and it will be released by Columbia. The movie “centers on a Mexican politician who, after his father is killed by a drug cartel, hires the five best bodyguards from around the world to protect him through a contentious election” according to the press release.
I definitely see some potential with the casting of the other four bodyguards with some of the who’s who of young action stars. Wait… there aren’t many, at least in the United States. So maybe Willis can help usher in the next generation of big action stars that we sorely need.
