If actor contracts that contain sequel clauses becoming almost mandatory didn’t convince you that Hollywood’s lifeblood is sequels, this story will. It turns out that Marvel has already commissioned writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, who wrote the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger, to prepare a treatment for the sequel. Honestly, that’s not exactly the biggest surprise — Cap will not only appear in his own film but it’s common knowledge that he’ll be appearing in the Marvel team-up The Avengers, too — but according to Latino Review, a sequel was greenlighted this early mostly because of the positive response to the trailer that aired during last Sunday’s Super Bowl. It’s pretty incredible how the Internet and social media allows studios to get nearly instant feedback, isn’t it? Anyway, hit more for a brief review of the info we have on the film!
Captain America: The First Avenger is set for a July release and is directed by Joe Johnston. It stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Stanley Tucci, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. As stated above, the script was written by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, although reportedly Avengers director Joss Whedon did a small rewrite to streamline the film with The Avengers.
