There has been a lot of casting news this week, so I figured I’d throw it all together in one post to let you know who is joining what projects out in Hollywoodland. So let’s get to it!
First, according to Deadline Walton Goggins (Predators, Cowboys & Aliens) has joined Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln as Ohio Democrat Congressman Wells A. Hutchins, who famously crossed party lines to support the Thirteenth Amendment. At first it doesn’t sound like a major role, but since a major announcement was made about the casting I’m assuming Goggins has a pretty significant role in what is sure to be an amazing film.
Next, Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone, Thor) is joining G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes and will play Firefly, who, as his name implies, likes to blow stuff up. Superhero Hype suggests that the mysterious Firefly will be the film’s main villain, which is a bit surprising since he wasn’t a major character in the original TV series. Still, since we know Cobra Commander, Destro, and the Baroness aren’t expected to return, we need the Joes to fight somebody.
Finally, Sylvester Stallone‘s next film — which is now untitled after going through the titles Headshot and Bullet to the Head — has added three new cast members according to Superhero Hype. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra), Christian Slater and Holt McCallany (Fight Club) have all joined, with Akinnuoye-Agbaje playing the role of the main villain. It’s nice to see Slater doing well lately — he was freaking awesome in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves like a hundred years ago.
