After many months with the project in a stand still, there seems to be a bit more movement on the film version of Max Brooks novel, World War Z.
Variety has reported that James Badge Dale (The Pacific) has joined the cast and will star alongside of Brad Pitt. Other than this bit of casting, not a whole lot has been mentioned about the film which is shooting for a summer 2012 release.
World War Z is about a worldwide infestation of zombies and tells the story of a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission (Pitt), who interviews survivors from countries all over the world, 10 years after zombie take over, in order to gather a first-person account on a war that obliterated the entire planet.
Dale is set to play a military officer who is one of the earliest to come up against the army of the undead. Also in discussion for roles are Mireille Enos and Anthony Mackie.
Update: It was just announced by Brad Pitt‘s production company, Plan B Entertainment, that filming will begin in August and that Glasgow, Scotland will be remade to look like a hell torn and destroyed Philadelphia with fake storefronts and American cars lining the street.
