Captain America and Avengers star, Chris Evans, has his eye set on the future, and it’s one that takes him behind the screen, rather than in front of it.
The 32-year old has stated that once his Marvel contract is up, he doesn’t see much of a career in front of the camera anymore, instead opting to focus behind the scenes making his own films. Recently Evans made his directorial debut for 1:30 Train, which he also starred in, and hopes that soon enough he can make the transition behind the screen as a full time career.
“If I’m acting at all, it’s going to be under Marvel contract, or I’m going to be directing,” he explained. “I can’t see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I’m contractually obligated to do. I’ve known for a while I wanted to direct,” he continued. “But [time] never really opens up. There’s another movie to do, there’s another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, ‘You know what, I have to do this’.”
Evans intends to have ‘a little break’ following his work on Captain America: The Winter Solider, before jumping right back into the suit for Avengers: Age of Ultron. This isn’t to say Evans is at all regretful of playing the famous Captain, in fact quite the opposite, stating his gratitude for the role that gave him world wide recognition, which directly helped him in his quest to make his first film as a director. No word on how many films Evans is signed up to do under the Marvel contract, you can imagine there’s a trilogy in either Captain America, The Avengers, or both though. So fans need not worry about Chris Evans disappearing from our screens in the near-future.
Captain America: The Winter Solider is in cinemas in the UK now and next week in the States.
