Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans, isn’t set to hit theaters until March 30, 2012, but Warner Bros. has enough confidence in this franchise to go ahead and start up on a third film.
The Hollywood reporter has reported that two of the film writers from Wrath of the Titans, David Leslie Johnson and Dan Mazeau, have been hired on to start penning a third film for the franchise.
There is nothing really known about the third film at this time besides that Sam Worthington will return as Perseus and so will newcomer to the series Toby Kebbell who plays Agenor in the sequel.
What I don’t understand is why would you come out and say that Worthington and another actor will return for the third film when the second one hasn’t even been released. Now I don’t need to see the film to know that neither one of these characters die in the sequel unless they are resurrected from the dead for the third one (which is possible in Greek mythology). Why not just say writers have been hired to start working on ideas for a third film and leave it at that?
The first film made well over half a billion dollars when it was released in 2010 and has been the poster child for how to not do post 3D conversions. Wrath of the Titans probably wont make nearly that much, but I can see it making about half that, which is good enough for a third film.
Wrath of the Titans will be released in 3D (not post conversion) and 2D. The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramirez, Bill Nighy and Rosamund Pike.
