Over this past week, Derek Cianfrance’s (Blue Valentine) new film The Place Beyond the Pines screened for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival to an enthusiastic crowd with mostly positive reviews coming out of it. The film stars Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling in a film where Gosling plays a motorcycle stunt driver turned bank robber with Cooper as the cop that’s hot on his tail. Sounds pretty ‘effin awesome, right?
Yesterday, Focus Features acquired the title for a 2013 release and it looks like they’re not the only ones eager to get word out about the film since two clips have emerged on the net. The first is probably the first time Bradley Cooper has truly convinced me that he can nail a dramatic role, the clip is engaging even though I have nothing to preface it with. The second is a red carpet interview with clips of Ryan Gosling cut in between the carpet footage. All I know is that I have been waiting a long time to see this film ever since the first still was released what seems like ages ago and hope that we’ll get to see this one sooner rather than later.
Take a look at the clips below and let us know what you think.
Luke (Ryan Gosling) is a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son. But when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Bradley Cooper), their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud. The Place Beyond the Pines is a rich dramatic thriller, tracing the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villains.
