It’s a dream match up die-hard and casual comic book/superhero/film fans have waited for for many a years now, and it’s been revealed it’s finally coming. Superman and Batman will be sharing the big screen at last!
That’s right, Zack Snyder revealed it at Comic-Con yesterday that Man of Steel 2 will feature none other than the Caped Crusader (see the logo that was shown to the crowd on the left). Snyder came on stage to discuss Man of Steel 2, and fans would have been excited no matter what he said and at first it all seemed quite normal:
“It’s official that we are going to make another Superman movie. And you say, Zack, what is the movie about? But you don’t want me to tell you that. You want to go and see the movie. But I can say that maybe there’s a single element that will be in the film that I could… help you out with. I was thinking about how to do that. I pored through the DC Universe to look for a way to tell this thing. We’re writing the thing now, but I came across a thing I found that’ll help you understand it”.
What followed sent fans into a frenzy, as Harry Lennix recited a famous comic book speech “I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember your hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you”.
For those who don’t know, that’s the speech Batman gives to Superman at the end of Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns. You can only imagine being there as fans raised the roof with screams, and it must have been a special feeling for Snyder as he revealed one of the biggest news stories to come out of Comic-Con all weekend. There’s no word on who will play Batman yet, but that hasn’t bothered fans and media being taken by the story. You can read the official press release below regarding the unification of these two superhero powerhouses.
Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release summer 2015.
