I love the Conan the Barbarian movie, although honestly it’s much better to watch the DVD with the unintentionally hilarious Arnold Schwarzenegger commentary, particularly when he cracks up over the part when he punches a camel in the face. And since Conan the Destroyer was terrible, I’m definitely looking forward to Conan 3D, a reboot to the series. It seems like Lionsgate has finally set a release date for the film… August 19, 2011. But what’s the issue with that date? Click more to find out what the potential trouble is.
Ready? Well, Fright Night and Spy Kids 4 are also set for release in 3D ON THE SAME DAY, and it’s a given that Captain America, The Smurfs, and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 will probably still be in theaters — all in 3D! Furthermore, Final Destination 5 (also in 3D) is set for release the VERY next week! With the limited number of 3D theaters, is the 3D playing field getting too crowded for Summer 2011 and will many of these films lack the attention that they might otherwise deserve?
Conan is directed by Marcus Nispel (who directed the underrated Conan-like Pathfinder) and stars Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan, and Jason Momoa as the big man himself.
Will Conan (or any of the other films above) get lost in the 3D shuffle? Let us know what you think in the comments!
