Over the weekend, a lot of new images and concept art was released for a bunch of different projects and, surprisingly, enough even on a project that is dead.
First on the list is an interesting one. There have been talks about The Crow remake for years now and the latest was suppose to star Bradley Cooper with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo at the helm. Both have since walked from the film and is back in what the studios call development hell. Shock Til You Drop got their hands on some of the concept art for the film before the project was abandoned and shows us what Cooper could of looked like as The Crow.
Next up on the list we will stick with the fantasy/Gothic theme and move over to Underworld Awakening. The forth film in the series, which also marks the return of Kate Beckinsale, will take place after the events in Underworld Evolution.
Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.
As you may have already guessed, the film was shot in 3D and based on the trailer will focus upon that aspect of the film. Underworld Awakening is set to hit theaters January 20, 2012. Screen Gems has released a brand new U.S. poster for the film which you can check out below.
Finally we are going to the opposite side of the spectrum here and talk a little bit about Pixar’s next film Brave. Slowly we have been learning more and more about the film and have seen a teaser poster but not much more. Empire has released two new images from the film and from the looks of it, it seems very Bravehartish in a sense.
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.
Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
The film will hit June 22, 2012. Hopefully Pixar has another gem in Brave and can make up for that poor excuse of a film that Cars 2 was. Luckily for Pixar though, they have had so many successful films, we can forgive them for the Cars 2 fumble and move on to their next project and welcome it with open arms once again.
