It’s amazing how long it can take for some movies to hit the big screen, as is the case with the Joss Whedon produced horror, The Cabin in the Woods. MGM originally had the film but due to its financial woes it had to to shelve the project and worry about bigger things, like bankruptcy. Part of restructuring the company included selling off its completed films, such as this, to other distributors.
Luckily for us, Lionsgate picked up the film is giving it a proper release. The film is directed by Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) was was co-written by both Whedon and himself. It was originally set to be the film that launched Chris Hemsworth into the spotlight before Thor, but things changed and now we will essentially be going back in time. The movie also stars Jesse Williams, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, and Richard Jenkins.
The trailer for the film is really cool as it has a mixture of elements from Saw and Resident Evil. I thought I would be watching a trailer fo a typical “alone-in-a-cabin” horror film but I’m glad that what I saw was different. I’ll let you be the judge though, check out the trailer and let us know what you think.
Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen.
