One documentary that seems to have stolen the hearts of everyone that has seen in it during its festival run is Constance Marks’ Sesame Street doc, Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey. The Special Jury Prize winning film at Sundance is about Kevin Nash, the man who created and voices Elmo and how Elmo both came into existence and how it has impacted the lives of generations around the world.
I’ve heard nothing but positive things about this documentary and, like the trailer states, it is one of those rare films that can span generational gaps because of how iconic and old the character is. This movie is about following your dreams, doing what you love everyday despite the adversity you might face, and proving to yourself and the world that dreams can in fact come true.
Check out the lovable trailer below and start getting excited for this documentary. It is expected to hit theaters in NY on October 21st and then will start expanding nationally in select theaters.
Beloved by children of all ages around the world, Elmo is an international icon. Few people know his creator, Kevin Clash, who dreamed of working with his idol, master puppeteer Jim Henson. Displaying his creativity and talent at a young age, Kevin ultimately found a home on Sesame Street. Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, this documentary includes rare archival footage, interviews with Frank Oz, Rosie O’Donnell, Cheryl Henson, Joan Ganz Cooney and others and offers a behind-the-scenes look at Sesame Street and the Jim Henson Workshop.
