Ok, so maybe I was kidding just a bit but it technically is true! When casting was starting to come out from the studio with regards to who would play the main villain in Thor: The Dark World, Mads Mikkelsen was tapped for that honor. Some may be wondering what villain he was going to play in the film? Would it be Thanos? Well it doesn’t really matter now because he has since been replaced by a Doctor!
Christopher Ecclston has now been cast to play the main villain in the film, Malekith The Accursed. If you are unfamiliar with Eccleston, many will recognize him as being one of the doctors in Dr. Who or maybe his role in 28 Days Later. If you still don’t know who he is, don’t worry because he is a very talented actor and will bring one hell of a performance to the screen.
Now lets get back to the character he will be playing, Malekith The Accursed. Malekith is the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim and has been a thorn in Thors side for quite some time in the comics. Usually he teams up with Loki or strikes a deal of some sort with him, but I’m not sure if Loki will make an appearance in this film. I’m very curious to see how this story plays out and how Malekith will bring trouble to Asgard. It wouldn’t surprise me if somehow he made his way to Earth and started wrecking havoc there as a way to lure Thor into a trap.
I guess we will know soon enough when Thor: The Dark World hits theaters November 8th 2013, until then, let the speculations begin!
