It was a bit tough for me to swallow the loss of Jet Li in the beginning of The Expendables 2 who was then replaced by Nan Yu, but that doesn’t mean a great Asian name can’t return for the third installment on the series, and no it’s not Donnie Yen. Originally offered to appear in the second film but declined due to scheduling conflicts, Jackie Chan is now set to appear in a solid role in The Expendables 3!
Amazing, right? Cinema Online caught up with Jackie while he was doing press for the release of his last big actioner, CZ12. Here is what he had this to say on the third Expendables film:
“Sly had invited me to be in “Expendables 2” but I was too busy filming “CZ12″ and couldn’t make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes,” said Chan.
Chan added that he had revealed to Stallone that he hoped the third installment of the franchise would run along the lines of a ‘buddy-buddy’ movie should Chan be starring in it, which the “Rambo” star obliged.”
I’m not really sure how buddy-buddy an Expendables film can get but whatever it takes to get Chan into the film I’m sure I’ll be happy with. Remember the fiasco with the second one not being rated PG-13 because of Chuck Norris? It ended up being R so yea, I’ll believe this plot idea when I see it.
