Fresh off the buzz of his breakout role in My Week with Marilyn opposite Michelle Williams, Tony-winner Eddie Redmayne has just joined the cast of the musical remake of one of Broadway’s most recognizable plays, Les Miserables, directed by Oscar winner Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech).
Deadline is reporting that Redmayne will play Marius, alongside Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert, and Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean. The film is expected to be released next year on December 7th, just in time for next season’s Oscar race.
Redmayne has recently finished production on Hick, a dramedy also starring Blake Lively and Chloe Moretz, as well as the BBC WWI miniseries Birdsong. What do you think about Redmayne joining the cast?
