After what has seemed like an eternity, Edgar Wright is finally ready to start filming Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in, The World’s End. If you are a fan of Wright you know exactly what this means, if you aren’t a fan or have no idea what the hell I’m talking about, let me explain.
Wright,Pegg and Frost have been working on The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (aka Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy) for years now, which includes Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and now The World’s End. So now that we have that cleared up, lets get to the good stuff.
Deadline broke the story and provided the following synopsis for The World’s End:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
Now I know that seemed a bit confusing, but let me just explain that this film will be awesome! It has been assumed that like the prior two films, The World’s End would be a play on a film genre and in this case looks to be an Apocalypse/Disaster film. Filming is suppose to begin this September which means we should expect the film sometime in 2013.
There is some bad news about The World’s End being announced to start production however, Ant Man just got that much further away. As much as I want to see an Ant Man film, The World’s End is totally worth the hold up.
