Hollywood seems to take a crack at the Three Musketeers every decade or so (although the last one, 2001’s The Musketeer, was well-known for it’s horribleness), and with the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean films and Sherlock Holmes it’s no surprise to see another Three Musketeers film being readied for theaters. Though I don’t remember an airship or flamethrowers in the original Alexandre Dumas novel, I have to say the just-released teaser for the upcoming adaptation looks like a lot of fun.
The Three Musketeers stars Logan Lerman as D’Artagnan, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, and Luke Evans as the Three Musketeers, Milla Jovovich as Milady de Winter, Christoph Waltz as the villainous Cardinal Richelieu, and Pirates alum Orlando Bloom as Duke of Buckingham. It’s directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, Death Race) from a script by Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’ Diary) and Alex Litvak (Predators). The Three Musketeers is set for an October 14 3D release.
