With all the casting announcements for the long-awaited Sin City sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, there were a number of great names added — including Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and more listed below — but one major problem: there was no Dame to Kill For. That’s because the actress who would play the role of Ava Lord — the titular Dame to Kill For — went curiously unnamed. But finally, now that the film is in production, has the actress who will play the femme fatale has been named: Eva Green (Casino Royale, Dark Shadows) will star as the sexy (and often naked) Ava Lord, who drives Dwight McCarthy (Brolin) nearly to the point of lovesick madness.
Also, Deadline revealed that joining the cast is Julia Garner (Martha Marcy May Marlene, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower) will be joining the Gordon-Levitt storyline — which is an original Sin City “yarn” not previously told in the Frank Miller comic series — as (what else?) a stripper.
The rest of the cast includes actors from the original Sin City — Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jamie King, Michael Masden — with new blood like Dennis Haysbet, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Alexa Vega, and Christopher Meloni. The sequel was co-written by Miller, Robert Rodriguez and William Monahan (The Departed) and is being co-directed by Miller and Rodriguez. It’s set for a October 4, 2013 release.
