It seems the Chinese have recently taken an interest in making their own modern westerns filled with bandanas, pistols and roundhouse kicks. The first film I had seen was called The Good, The Bad, The Weird and now we have China’s newest addition to the genre entitled Wind Blast, directed by Gao Qun Shu (The Message). While the title is not as catchy as the first, the extended trailer for this new flick is pretty badass. If you want to see a cool Chinese film that doesn’t take place in ancient China then take a look at the extended trailer for Wind Blast after the jump.
Wind Blast stars Duan Yi Hong, Ni Da Hong, Wu Jing, Zhang Li, Xia Yu, Charlie Yeung, Francis Ng, Yu Nan, Ma Su, He Tie Hong, Chi Qiang, Zhang Li Dong, and Ma Guo Wei. The action director is Nicky Li (The Day After Tomorrow, City Under Siege)
Below you will find a quote from director Gao Qun Shu, who made a statement regarding the logic behind the length of this new trailer:
“I’d call this a spoilers trailer, all these are meant to let you know the characteristics of this film, after viewing the trailer, you may decide if you’d want to step into the cinema. A movie should not rely on witholding the plot to attract the audience, what matters most is presenting a thrilling process, much like The Message, even if you know who the Phantom is, you’d still be interested to watch it.”
While I would rather post the shorter trailer it doesn’t make sense to because it seems to be missing 30 seconds of it.
Wind Blast Trailer-The trailer doesn’t have subtitles but just watch it for the visuals if you just became skeptical
