The new Fantastic Four reboot has had its share of problems with getting its feet off the ground. How would they make it different? Would it even have a place in the superhero universe? Do people even want a reboot? These were just some of the questions being asked. Then it seemed all was finally well with the reboot by announcing a cast and even a release date of 2015. Shooting was set to begin in around 6 months time. Now something quite extraordinary has happened, it’s been announced that the director and ENTIRE cast are set to be fired, and new plans will be made, which will set the shooting date and release date back considerably.
While nothing has been confirmed reports are suggesting that Fox are set to have a complete overhaul for the proposed remake that would see a much younger version of the Fantastic Four starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan. On top of that bold move, 21st Century Fox are also searching for a new director to replace Josh Tank as well as new screenwriters to rework Simon Kinberg‘s script for the planned reboot.
The screenplay was set to be based on The Ultimate Fantastic Four, which shows the famous superheroes as younger men and woman. It wasn’t announced who was set to play the villains in the film, but you could presume Doctor Doom would have some sort of screen time.
While this could all be hearsay or, in fact, a very smart marketing ploy by Fox to gather some much needed media attention for the film which hasn’t really had the spotlight on it just yet, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear that they go in a different direction, as production for The Fantastic Four has been hit by numerous stumbling blocks up until this point.
The Fantastic Four is set for a June 2015 release.
