Now I am a huge fan of the Fast and Furious series and will be one of the first to defend the franchise from the haters. The last film was by far one of the best in the series and I was very excited to see Fast Five because I thought it was finally going to wrap everything up. Boy was I mistaken!
The Hollywood Report just broke the news that Fast Five writer Chris Morgan has been offered to not only write but also produce Fast Six (Hand hits forehead).
I really want to know what they are drinking, smoking or eating out in L.A. It seems studios are giving the go ahead for sequels to just about everything that has YET to come out in theaters. First it was Captain America (which that was a given), but then Real Steel and now Fast and the Furious? Come on! How much more can you possibly milk out of this franchise? Will the next one take place on Mars and have Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) racing around in Mars rovers trying to outrun a gang of racing aliens?
The smart thing to do would have been to let the film come out, see how the audience felt about it and if they wanted more, then damn it give them more! I really want to say I’m surprised by this but really I’m not. If Fast Five is as good as some are saying then I won’t have a problem with a sixth film, but give me a chance to see if before giving the green light for the next one.
Fast Five will be released April 29, 2011.
