I couldn’t resist, I’m sorry, the title just worked itself out that way. Today, Variety reported that Etan Cohen (writer of Tropic Thunder) will be directing funnymen Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart in an upcoming comedy titled Get Hard. With Hart’s star continually rising and Ferrell being the established powerhouse that he is, I’m hoping for something truly special and something far from a film like Cop Out.
Get Hard “follows a wealthy investment bank manager who is convicted of a crime he didn’t commit and prepares for prison with help from the guy who washes his car.”
While it would be stereotypical of me to assume that Ferrell would play the I-banker and Hart the car wash employee, I’m seriously hoping its the other way around, I think it would turn everything on its head and lead to some of the most ridiculous comedy we’ve seen come from a studio film of this type if they played “against type” or, rather, against “stereotypes” that our society has come to believe.
Any who, Get Hard is expected to move quickly into production over at WB due to both actors’ busy schedules so hopefully we’ll get to see this feature sometime next fall.
Are you excited for the pairing of these two actors? Let us know below.
