I know this bit of news is going to make a lot of Pixar fans happy and every Finding Nemo fan ecstatic. Andrew Stanton, the director of Finding Nemo, Wall-E and the recent John Carter, is returning to the animated world with a sequel to the massively popular underwater adventure story, Finding Nemo.
It has been known that he has wanted to do a follow-up to the smash hit but only if he had a great story to rally behind. Apparently, via Deadline, Disney loves his new concept so much that they have given him the green-light and he is officially on board to direct. Additionally, it looks like they are willing to shake off the $200 million bomb that was John Carter resulting in a potential second shot at a live-action feature when the time comes.
Those are the only details currently available but I’d say that it is a safe bet we will see many of the voices from the original returning for the sequel when the time comes, especially Ellen Degeneres. The only question now is how long will this take to come to fruition? I’m thinking we won’t see Finding Nemo 2 until 2015 at the earlierst.
