Ji Lang Qing Chun, or roughly translated into either “Mountain Dew Youth” or “Raid Wave Youth,” is the new movie from director Patrick Leung and producer John Woo. Although not much has been revealed about the movie, the film’s opening ceremony recently took place in China and some details have slipped out via interviews with Mr. Woo. Along with that a few images of the cast in action have also been released. You can check out the boating images along with some information regarding the cast and plot after the jump.
The film about Chinese Dragon Boating stars Huang Xiaoming, Joe Chan, Eric Tsang, Anne Wu, and Shao Bing. The film is set to be an inspirational and motivational movie about one of China’s traditional sporting events. Huang Xiaoming will be playing the “loved-by-all, wanted-by-all” male lead sportsman while Joe Chan, the female lead, will be a member of the national dragon boat team.
I for one have never seen dragon boating in person and have always heard how intense it is in China. I think the whole notion of creating an inspirational movie about one of the most popular sports in China is a great way to show how optimistic and determined the Chinese people can be, specifically when it comes to sport. I’m curious to see how this one turns out, especially with John Woo working behind the scenes with his mentee, Patrick Leung.

Because much of my information comes from some translated sources, the third image may not be from the film, it may be from one called Surf City. Additionally, if anyone knows the actual name of the film in English please let me know so I can make the necessary corrections. Thanks!
