FUN FACT: I used to get injured so much that my mom used to call me “Mr. Bump” and my friend Amy used to be so demanding that her mom called her “Little Miss Bossy”. Why do I bring this up? Well, both nicknames originated as titles of the Mr. Men and Little Miss books by Roger Hargreaves, a series of children’s books that were first published in 1971. These books, which ended with some kind of moral or lesson about each character’s characteristic or infliction, have remained popular even after Hargreaves‘ death in 1988. So popular, in fact, that the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters may be coming to your local movie theater. Hit “more” to get all of the info!
Shawn Levy (best known for directing the Night at the Museum films) is developing an adaptation of the popular series at Fox with his 21 Laps Entertainment. Levy himself doesn’t have much experience with animation, so it seems likely that Levy will be looking to Fox Animation, which has been trying to jumpstart itself with a slate of films with the upcoming Welcome to the Jungle and Walking With Dinosaurs 3D, both of which we haven’t heard much about yet.
Should be a fun film. You know, for the kids… Okay, I’m totally lying, I definitely want to see it too!
