I have trouble figuring out what I’m doing next week, so it’s good that I’m not in charge of scheduling for 20th Century Fox. The studio has announced that its next Planet of the Apes film, which was recently confirmed, is already set for July 29, 2016. It also has made several other adjustments to its 2016 schedule, which now looks loaded:
May 27 X-Men: Apocalypse
June 17 How to Train Your Dragon 3
July 1 ID Forever: Part 1 (Independence Day sequel)
July 18 Ice Age 5
July 29 Planet of the Apes 3
November 4 Trolls
Fox has almost made adjustments to its 2014 and 2015 schedules, including releasing its remake of Poltergeist on February 13, 2015 instead of the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride, which will now be released April 3, 2015 (all to avoid competing with 50 Shades of Grey, of course). Finally, for 2014 Fox has scheduled the comedy Let’s Be Cops for August 13 and has scheduled Night at the Museum 3 for December 19.
In other words, Fox has a lot of big franchise films coming out over the next three years. That’s good news, unless you hate sequels!
