New Yorkers and Long Islanders — if you support indie film (and if you’re on Movie Buzzers, of course you do), and are available on August 13, why not attend a FREE screening of a new indie comedy?
The Last Straw will host its world premiere at world premiere on August 13 at 9PM at Bellmore Movies and Showplace (222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore, NY), which will include appearances by all of the film’s creative and technical talent. Admission to the screening is free. Following the premiere, The Last Straw will be screened at area film festivals beginning in September, including the Long Island Film Festival.
The Last Straw, directed by Stolis Hadjicharalambous, depicts the struggle of a group of teenagers fed up with their dean’s reign of terror. This group of unlikely allies—including everyone from the geeks to the jocks to the hall monitors themselves—develop a plan to take him down with the best weapon of all: spitballs, of all shapes and sizes. This hilarious original comedy showcases up-and-coming talent while reflecting the absurdities of high school life in a zany and delightful way.
