It seems just like yesterday we were posting new photos for Disney’s adaptation of John Carter and there were rumors of a new trailer releasing this week as well. The rumors are true and we have a brand new full length trailer for the film which you can check out below.
Here is the general synopsis for the film:
“John Carter tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.”
Besides the music, the trailer looks pretty impressive and has great potential. I know some people are claiming that this is a rip off of Star Wars and Avatar, but you have to remember, the film is based off the book a Princess of Mars written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, which was published back in 1917. The book pretty much created the Sci-Fi genre we know today and all those movies people are claiming it copied actually copied this series of books.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, the film hits 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on March 9, 2012. The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church and Willem Dafoe.
