It seems like it’s been forever since people at SDCC got a taste of the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the highly anticipated sequel to the surprising hit reboot, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but now it’s our turn as the first official trailer for the film has been released.
In the film, “A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.” Gary Oldman is set to lead the human survivors while Andy Serkis reprises his role as Cesar. Jason Clarke, Judy Greer, Keri Russell and Kodi-Smit McPhee also co-star in the film while Matt Reeves (Let Me In) has taken over directorial duties, which is a fine replacement but I still wish Rupert Wyatt would have returned.

How bad-ass does Ceasar look? Firstly, he looks incredibly real thanks to the phenomenal effects work and, secondly, just look at that look on his face, that’s the look of a warrior that’s seen some shit and isn’t planning on backing down anytime soon. I wouldn’t mess with that Ape that’s for sure. I’m curious to see how this potential war is going to escalate and am really excited for when this gets released next July.
