One of the movies that’s been sitting in development for a long time, mostly with a revolving door of “attached” directors is the remake of Guillaume Canet’s French thriller, Tell No One, which is actually an adaptation of a best selling US novel. Both Ben Affleck and Andrew Dominik were at one point or another attached to direct the film but have clearly dropped out which is why Warrior director Gavin O’Connor is possibly stepping up.
According to Variety, O’Connor, who is currently in talks, will work on the project as soon as he wraps up his duties on Jane Got a Gun, a film in which he signed up for after it’s initial director dropped the project as production was about to start. The remake was scripted by Chris Terrio who wrote Argo, so at least we know there is a writer who understands how to handle thrillers.
The original film is an excellent thriller and one I highly recommend seeing before this one gets going. It’s a film with some great twists and turns and a lot of deception which makes it a really fun flick to take in. Below is the synopsis for the original which I’m sure will be pretty similar to the remake except with a different occupation.
Eight years ago, pediatrician Alexandre Beck (François Cluzet) was the prime suspect in his wife’s murder. He’s put all that behind him, but now that two dead bodies have been found near his home, he’s suspected of wrongdoing once again. The case takes an unexpected turn when he receives an anonymous e-mail showing his wife alive — and eight years older — instructing him to “tell no one.”
