It seems like almost everyone on the net has bashed the trailer for the Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s upcoming passion project, The Three Stooges, starring Sean Hayes as Larry, Will Sasso as Curly and Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, but try not to do it immediately.
Now I know it might be hard to push the idea out of your head that Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro would have been playing the three slap stick comedians originally, but please try to do it, as it will automatically make you shed a tear as to what could have been. Despite them not being in the film, the guys portraying the leads actually do an amazing job of nailing their impersonations and the humor seen is reminiscent of those classic Stooges’ episodes.
The issue with the trailer is that everyone is used to seeing The Stooges in black and white and in a time where slapstick humor reigned king, the humor may be outdated resulting in its eventual downfall of it at the box office but I guarantee that it will resonate well with the young-ins of the world. I’m not saying it isn’t a terrible trailer but I am saying that for an eight year old how they hell can you not enjoy this?
While I also hate the fact that the Jersey Shore people get to appear in the film, you do get to watch Moe poke Snooki in the eye, which made me laugh (although it probably isn’t the first time someone has done that to her).
Left on a nun’s doorstep, Larry, Curly and Moe grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuking and woo-woo-wooing their way to uncharted levels of knuckleheaded misadventure. Out to save their childhood home, only The Three Stooges could become embroiled in an oddball murder plot…while also stumbling into starring in a phenomenally successful TV reality show.
