The second English language debut for a South Korean filmmaker this year is slowly approaching us and for the past few months we’ve been getting a steady stream of art, character posters and teasers, but now the full international trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s (Mother, The Host) Snowpiercer has arrive and man is it impressive.
Not only does this gritty, post-apocalyptic, social issue driven film look absolutely stunning, but the story combined with some fine acting seems like it could be a contender for many top 10 lists this year. Snowpiercer is an adaptation of the graphic novel Le Transperceneige and stars Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song and Ko Asung.
The film will be released in Korea by CJ Entertainment on August 1st before the film rolls out everywhere else internationally, most likely during August as well. The Weinstein Company will be releasing the title here in the states so be sure to keep an eye out for it. Bong Joon-ho is a fantastic director and it looks like his transition to English has had no impact on the quality of his storytelling.

Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
