When you think or hear Transformers: Dark of the Moon, you probably think Blockbuster success, because the film made $1.119 billion. So with numbers like that you have to assume that even though Michael Bay said this was the last one, the studios and Hasbro would be thinking otherwise. Luckily for fans, Bay doesn’t make those kinds of decisions.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Hasbro President and CEO Brian Goldner, said that the company is in “active discussions” with Paramount Pictures, director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg about a potential fourth “Transformers” film. Goldner said he hopes to have news to share in the next quarter.
Seems pretty promising that a fourth film will see the big screens regardless if Bay returns to direct. In past interviews with actors from the first three, it seems that some want to return and others are fine with moving on, so if the fourth film does get a green light, it will be interesting to see who returns and what route they end up going.
Goldner also said, “We continue to actively develop a number of additional Hasbro films with great partners and writers, including Micronauts, Ouija, Candyland, Risk, Stretch Armstrong, Clue and Monopoly.” If this is true, we can expect a future full of craptastic films being backed by Hasbro. Besides Clue, there should really be no reason to make any of those toys/games into Hollywood films, especially after the writing teams idea for Candyland to be very Lord of the Rings like but set in a world made of candy.
