You better hide ya kids, you better hide ya wife, cause there’s a big ass spider on the loose! Truer words could not have been spoken in the first trailer for one of SXSW’s midnight features, BIG ASS SPIDER!, directed by Mike Mendez (The Convent and The Gravedancers).
I’ve never heard of Mendez before but now I’m dying to see his new film because the trailer for this bad boy looks like this might be one of my favorite new after dark films of the year. All you need to know is that there is a big ass spider attacking LA and that an exterminator and security guard sidekick have accepted the challenge of taking it out. Tack on some splatterific effects and funny dialogue and you have a recipe for the perfect midnight film.
When a giant alien spider escapes from a military lab and rampages across the city of Los Angeles, it is up to one clever exterminator and his security guard sidekick to kill the creature before the entire city is destroyed. BIG ASS SPIDER! (aka MEGA SPIDER)
