In this day and age, when it comes to films, the craziest ideas seem to be getting the green light. We have boardgames being adapted to sci-fi films, Presidents being Vampire hunters, even Grimm fairy tales getting their own twists. So in order to keep up with the times, Paramount has decided to move forward with a new retelling of Mark Twain‘s classic characters, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
Not much is known about the spec scrip which is currently titled Huck and Tom, besides being penned by Andrew Burg, though it will focus on the now grown up versions of the character and will have a supernatural aspect to it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This is very interesting to say the least because this sounds way too much like the upcoming Hansel and Gretel:Witch Hunter film which hits next year. Don’t get me wrong, Tom and Huck are iconic characters and have appeared in numerous stories, films and TV shows, but going the supernatural route is going to be interesting. Hopefully we can get a log line or a synopsis before we start judging the film too much.
