A few weeks ago we got a glimpse at Ji-woon Kim’s new film, I Saw the Devil, and it looked like a pretty cool thriller. Well I just stumbled upon the recently released full length trailer for the film and it gives us a bit more insight as to what to expect from it.
The film stars Min-sik Choi, the lead in Oldboy, as well as Byung-Hun Lee, who was the lead in J.S.A and had starred in Ji-woon Kim’s last film, The Good, The Bad, and The Weird. Although the trailer isn’t subtitled you can at least understand the direction the film intends to go. It looks dark, thrilling, and suspenseful, kind of like Oldboy if you will. All I can say is that with a great cast and an intense storyline, this is going to be THE Korean movie to watch this year.
You can check out the trailer and read the synopsis below to get a feel for the film.
Kyung-chul is a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. He has committed infernal serial murders in diabolic ways that one cannot even imagine and his victims range from young women to even children. The police have chased him for a long time, but were unable to catch him. One day, Joo-yeon, daughter of a retired police chief becomes his prey and is found dead in a horrific state.
Her fiance Dae-hoon, a top secret agent, decides to track down the murderer himself. He promises himself that he will do everything in his power to take bloody vengeance against the killer, even if it means that he must become a monster himself to get this monstrous and inhumane killer.
