If you thought Ian McShane‘s depictions of Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was badass, then you’ll never guess who the former Deadwood star is playing next! In Rupert Sanders‘ Snow White & the Huntsman, the actor will play the lead dwarf in the enchanted forest!
In a rewritten version of the script by Hossein Amini (nominated for an Oscar for The Wings of The Dove), McShane will be a digitally enhanced version of himself as Caesar, according to Screen Rant. The website also draws a comparison between this film and Relativity Media’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, which is currently filming, and stars Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, and Armie Hammer. However, it is speculated that Amini’s rewrite from Evan Daugherty’s original script “will incorporate more of a love triangle between Miss White, her beloved Prince, and the rough n’ ready Huntsman.“
Including McShane in the cast goes along with the idea that, “Universal is apparently also going with established character actors to portray the dwarfs,” as opposed to some lesser known actors filling the roles like Tarsem Singh is doing with The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.
Also on board are Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga) as Snow White, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) as the Huntsman, Charlize Theron (The Road) as the Evil Queen, and two of McShane’s Pirates 4 co-stars, Sam Claflin as Prince Charmant and Stephen Graham of Boardwalk Empire fame in an unspecified role. Other supporting roles go to Ray Winstone (Edge of Darkness) as Trajan, Toby Jones (Your Highness) as Claudius, Bob Hoskins (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) as Constantine, Eddie Izzard (Valkyrie) as Tiberius, amd Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes) as another unnamed character.
