FINALLY! Waiting for James Bond 23 to finally go into production seemed to take forever even though Quantum of Solace was released just over two years ago. After a lot of drama — specifically Bond studio MGM’s financial difficulties — longtime Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have announced today that Daniel Craig will return as 007 in Bond 23, which will go into production at the end of 2011 for a November 9, 2012 release. Hit “more” for all the confirmed details of the super-spy’s next adventure!
Confirming much of what was speculated a month ago (see my post here!), Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition) will be directing the film, and the script will be written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who have written the past four Bond films, although sources say that John Logan (Any Given Sunday, Gladiator) will be joining the duo this time around. Daniel Craig will, of course, return as Bond, and we can probably expect Judi Dench to return as M. The only other rumored cast member is Simon Russell Beale, an English stage actor and friend of Mendes, as the villain.
We got nothing yet except unsubstantiated rumors about locations, plot, and all the other details that make a Bond film a Bond film, but we’ll be sure to update you as those pieces come together. Still, it’s exciting just to know that the film has finally been scheduled.
