This is an interesting story as it not only pertains to the always amazing Will Smith but also the likely hood of Fantastic Voyage being made with director Shawn Levy.
The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Will Smith is in the very early stages of negotiation to star in the 1966 remake Fantastic Voyage. The film is being produced by James Cameron and will be shot with the same 3D technology that he used in Avatar. Director Shawn Levy has also stated that unless he gets a big star for the film then he is going to wipe his hands of the project and walk. A little drastic if you ask me but hey stay strong and you might just get your way.
Fantastic Voyage is about a scientist who is dying of a blood clot. His only chance for survival is for five scientist colleagues to be miniaturized in a ship, and injected into his bloodstream. The original film starred Raquel Welch, Donald Pleasence and was directed by Richard Fleischer.
Don’t expect any news to come quickly about Will Smith signing or not. Fantastic Voyage has been in the ruts for quite some time now. But until then, you can catch Smith in Men In Black III next summer.
