Since the critical panning of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s acting abilities in her early films like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Heartbreakers, it seems that this year’s surprising Golden Globe nominated actress (for Lifetime’s The Client List) is having the last laugh as she ventures into the directorial chair for a family ghost thriller called Wait Till Helen Comes. Hit the jump for more details!
Having already directed a number of episodes of her recently cancelled CBS supernatural drama, The Ghost Whisperer, Hewitt is setting her sights on an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Mary Downing Hahn. Variety reports that the story focuses “on a 12-year-old girl who’s the eldest of three children in a blended family that moves from Baltimore into a house converted from a church in the Maryland countryside. The tormented ghost of a little girl comes to haunt the 12-year-old but forms an intimate though dangerous friendship with her seven-year-old stepsister.”
There is no news yet if Hewitt will also grant herself an acting role in the film, but she will be producing the film under Fedora Films and Just Believe Prods with business partner AJ Rinella. They are hoping for a summer start on production for the film.
Aside from her most well-known qualities as an actress, Hewitt recently released a dating advice book, The Day I Shot Cupid, which earned mixed reviews, but was a best-seller nonetheless. Perhaps her recent good fortune and news of this interesting project will help establish Hewitt as a diversified, young force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.
