Flying Swords of Dragon Gate marks the first movie in 14 years that Tsui Hark and Jet Li have worked on together since their very popular film, Once Upon a Time in China series. Tsui Hark, has denied that it is a remake of the 1992 film, Dragon Inn, which starred Donnie Yen and which he co-wrote.
I’ve been following this movie on and off for a few months now and obviously missed this trailer when it hit the interwebs. Have no fear though, I have found it and posted it below for your viewing enjoyment but, keep in mind, that this is one of the worst teasers I have ever seen. It looks like it was made by a 7 year old child who just picked random clips and put them together.
Regardless of the teaser I’m still pretty pumped to see this film becasue I know it will get some sort of limited theatrical release here in the states. The movie does star Jet Li, Chen Kun, Zhou Xun, Louis Fan Siu-wong, Kwai Lun-mei, Mavis Fan and Li Yu-chun and it is the first 3D Wu Xia film so I doubt anyone is going to want to miss out on this event. Also, the 3D is being handled by Chuck Comiskey who was the visual effects supervisor for Avatar. Guess Hark truly wants this movie to be the best it can possibly be.
Twitch says that the film “tells the story of the struggle between a Ming Dynasty general (played by Jet Li) and his rival, a powerful eunuch (played by Chen Kun).”
Check out the teaser below and let us know what you think of it.
