Okay, maybe so not literally as the title suggests, but the first image has been released of acting legend Jim Broadbent as Father Christmas in the upcoming film Get Santa. Seen as quite a scraggy figure, the picture shows Broadbent having his mugshot taken after trying to steal back his reindeer.
Written and directed by Christopher Smith (Creep, Severence), Get Santa features Broadbent in the title role as he crash lands his sleigh in Londo, and enlists the help of a young child, Tom, and his reluctant-to-help father, Steve (Rafe Spall), to get him back to Lapland and save Christmas.
Described as a “heart-warming Christmas film”, Get Santa will be distributed by Warner Brothers in the UK and is backed by the BFI and the Yorkshire Content Fund. Featuring a whole host of recognisable British stars including Warwick Davies, Stephen Graham and Jodie Whittaker.
Get Santa sounds like a great Christmas adventure set for a late 2014 release (no specific date mentioned yet) and hopefully can be one of those rare modern Christmas films to make an impact and be a regular in everyone’s list come that time of year.
