Basically, if you are not a subscriber, this is the month to go pick up a copy of Entertainment Weekly because it has a ton of great photos and articles featuring some of the most highly anticipated films of 2012. Earlier we gave you the Prometheus photos from the issue, but now sticking with aliens, we have a great shot of Disney’s John Carter.
It looks like a creature one would expect to see in the Star Wars universe but none the less looks pretty ferocious. We have seen the promo art and the trailer that was shown at D23 this year but I still feel like Disney really needs to make a strong push for this film if they want it to be successful. There will be the fans of the John Carter of Mars books, but the general public really needs to be reeled into this film by some awesome marketing, especially with the film hitting theaters March 9, 2012.
Based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands
