Your guess is as good as mine, since Variety and Entertainment Weekly disagree!
On Friday, the usually on-the-money Variety reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) would be playing the above-pictured Alberto Falcone, the son of Carmine Falcone, the mafia overload played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins. Unlike his father, in the Batman graphic novel The Long Halloween Alberto becomes somewhat of a supervillain himself, becoming the so-called mafia killer Holiday. This would’ve added the third villain to the film, alongside the already-announced Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy).
But Entertainment Weekly reports today that such rumors are incorrect — Gordon-Levitt is in the film, but he will not play Alberto Falcone. So I guess you can throw the Holiday rumors in the same boat as the Hugo Strange rumors and the rumors of the return of Two-Face and Ra’s al-Ghul. It seems like we won’t know for sure until the film is released on July 20, 2012!
Gordon-Levitt joins Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy as Bane, Michael Caine as Alfred, and Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon. Christopher Nolan, of course, is returning to direct.
Who do you expect Gordon-Levitt will play in The Dark Knight Rises? Let us know your thoughts in our comments!
